22 f 2010

In 2009 the Impel Group – the largest Polish group of companies rendering services for businesses – produced sales revenue at the level of PLN 1.033 billion, which represents an increase in relation to the previous year by PLN 31 million. In 2009 the Group earned the operating profit of PLN 47.28 million and the net profit of PLN 33.5 million.

2009 was the best year in the twenty-year history of the Impel Group’s business operations. The two largest business units, Facility Management (cleaning services and technical maintenance of facilities) and Security, recorded an increase in sales revenue in 2009, generating PLN 449.3 million and PLN 414.6 million, respectively. As compared to the preceding year both units improved their profitability, obtaining higher margins on new contracts. Operating profitability for Facility Management and Security was 8.1% and 8.4%, respectively.

“The Impel Group’s financial results are reflected by a growing price of our shares on the stock exchange. We could observe a positive trend and striving for the level which denoted the company’s real value over the last half of the year, when the value of our shares increased by more than 300%, whereas the main indexes, WIG and WIG80, were rising less dynamically, by 100%. 2009 saw also an increase in the operating profitability, by 110% in relation to 2008. During the economic slowdown observed last year, we proved that our company could effectively secure new contracts, ensuring the reliability of deliveries to our Clients” – emphasised Grzegorz Dzik, President of Impel SA.

In 2009 the Group strengthened its leadership position among providers of cash processing services.

“We developed our highly specialist services, which gained the confidence of numerous new Clients. Cash centres were equipped with the state-of-the-art software. The implementation of “Customer Service Standards” in the manned guarding service contributed to reinforcing our high position and translated into a visible increase in revenue in this segment. We also enlarged our share in monitoring services and electronic security systems. The security market consolidation, which took place last year, additionally confirmed that we are one of the leaders, a player whom the market has to take into account.”  – added Grzegorz Dzik, President of Impel SA.

Impel Cleaning consistently implements its strategy of new service development and strengthens its market position.

“Good results achieved in the facility management segment, in which broadly understood cleaning plays a significant role, could be achieved by providing more and more technologically advanced services, e.g. start-up and operation of air-conditioning systems or flooring rental systems for office buildings. The decision to acquire a new company, HK Zakład Usługowo Handlowy “Partner”, also brought success, as it strengthened our position with regard to entities operating on the heavy industry market, including metallurgical plants belonging to an international concern, ArcelorMittal Poland” – admitted Wojciech Rembikowski, Vice President of the Management Board of Impel SA.

After three years, the implementation of an integrated IT system, SAP, was completed in 36 companies, comprising 10 functional modules. In the IT business environment it was recognised as the largest implementation in Central and Eastern Europe and independent experts considered it to be an innovative technology solution.

“It was a year of good strategic changes inside the organisation. Their primary objective was to obtain economic and organisational effects. We are convinced that new possibilities were opened up for a dynamic sales increase, including enhancements to the Customer service standards, based on the improved processes and management information. A modern Customer Service Centre was created, independent of service operations, which makes it possible to obtain objective delivery performance measurements, including complaint and order handling.” – pointed up Grzegorz Dzik, President of Impel SA

In 2009 the Impel Group started its cooperation with Autogrill, the world’s largest supplier of catering services and operator of service points for travellers, by signing a joint venture agreement incorporating a new company, Autogrill Polska, in which IMPEL has a 49% share holding.

“It is a subsequent stage in our development. For many years we have been focused on our company’s organic growth, by offering cleaning and manned guarding services to our Clients. Flotation in 2003 and the funds thus raised enabled us to make acquisitions, consolidate the market and develop our competences on a number of new service markets. Starting the cooperation with Autogrill involves development through capital-related activities in the selected product lines. We are looking for such industry partners who ensure a dynamic development over a short time span” – added Wojciech Rembikowski, Vice President of IMPEL SA.

2009 was a year well spent also because of starting the property development projects, carried by the Group together with Vantage Development.

“Preparatory works related the Centauris project, located in ul. Ślężna in Wrocław, were completed. This housing estate will comprise 12 buildings with more than 400 high standard apartments. The ground floor of one of the buildings, having the total area of about 1,100 m2, is designed for service activities. The start of construction of Stage I, i.e. three buildings, having the area of 8,200 m2 and including 115 apartments, is planned for the first half of April this year. At present the preparatory works are carried out, enabling the General Contractor to enter the site and start the construction.  Already 35% of the building area has been sold, namely 55 apartments out of targeted 115. Works carried out at the Promenady Wrocławskie and Gamma office building projects are currently in a phase making it possible to start construction processes still this year or at the turn of the year 2010” – added Wojciech Rembikowski, Vice President of Impel SA.
