Gwarant will ensure the security of the Katowice International Airport in Pyrzowice

05 f 2013

Gwarant Agencja Ochrony S.A., in which Impel is the majority shareholder, won in the tender for the provision of security services to the Katowice International Airport in Pyrzowice. Gwarant will substitute for the Border Guards and will take over the duties of ensuring the security of the airport as of 15 March this year. The agreement was concluded for a period of four years and its gross value is almost PLN 20 million.

On 26 February 2013, Gwarant Agencja Ochrony signed an agreement with Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze S.A., which manages the airport in Pyrzowice. Under the contract the company will control the security of people, hand luggage and registered luggage as well as of cargo, shipments and mail at the Katowice International Airport. The Airport in Pyrzowice is the second airport, apart from Mazowiecki Port Lotniczy Warszawa-Modlin, which has handed over the security control to an external company and the first one in which the external company will substitute for the specialist Airport Security Staff.

The security services at the Pyrzowice airport will be provided by over one hundred Gwarant employees. They passed the relevant specialist training, obtaining the certificates of Security Control Operators in civil aviation. The tasks entrusted to them are subject to tightened provisions of international and national law on the security of civil aviation and are strictly controlled by the Border Guards, the Civil Aviation Office and also by the European Commission.

Edward Kuczer, President of Gwarant Agencja Ochrony S.A., said that, ‘The contract award in the tender for the provision of security services at the Airport in Pyrzowice is a huge success for us, the more so as the requirements for companies taking part in the tender procedure were high. We had to ensure the qualified staff, namely Security Control Operators, and take out the insurance policy worth over PLN 60 million, required under the regulation to the Act on People and Property Protection. I would like to emphasise that our cooperation with the airport in Pyrzowice started almost a year ago, with the provision of selected security services. I am convinced that our experience gained so far and qualified staff will enable us to ensure security at the highest level.'
